School, Work & Stress on Your Skin

Summer is almost over and it’s time to get back to school, work and the stress they can cause. Whether its work-related anxiety or just every day anxiety, stress can damage your skin, causing oily skin, acne, dry skin and wrinkles.

Exercise – There are small steps you can take to be more active without feeling like you’re wasting time. Take the stairs instead of the elevator, and try to bike or walk to places instead of always driving.

Diet – Nutrition is very important! See tips here.

Try using ingredients that are known to reduce anxiety:

Chamomile is a natural sedative that is best for mild anxiety. It can be used to calm nervousness, reduce digestive ailments and improve appetite.

Mint is popular in cooking and baking, and is also therapeutic in teas and aromatherapy.

Lavender has wonderful aromatherapy benefits, but it can also make a wonderful tea, as well as imparting a delicate wow-factor to desserts.

Basil is surprisingly effective against stress and anxiety. The best way to get the most of basil’s calming properties is to prepare it in a tea.

Sleep – It’s hard to get the rest you need when you’ve got a lot on your mind, but try not to stay up too late and keep regular sleep hours.

Take a Break – Worrying about your to-do list? Schedule time for activities you actually like doing to stay motivated.

Take Care of Your Skin – Stress can worsen signs of aging. Try an anti-aging skin treatment, moisturize often and use SPF outdoors.
